A Beginner’s Guide to Vaping

Vaping has become a popular activity among adults of all ages. Some use it as a means to cut down on tobacco usage, while others simply use it recreationally. Whichever group you fall into, there are a few key things you need to know. Not all vapes are created equal and not all of them offer the same features. So, let’s dig in and learn all about it.

What is vaping?

Vaping is a term used for inhaling the vapor produced by a vaping product such as a vaporizer or an e-cigarette. The liquid used for vaping is a mixture of glycerin, propylene glycol, and flavorings. It also sometimes contains nicotine, and some people add cannabis. Vaping has been around the US market since about 2006, starting with the simple e-cigarettes and then expanding with various other types of vaporizers.

How do vaping devices work?

E-cigarettes hold replaceable cartridges which contain vaping liquid. Every time you inhale, the device heats a tiny amount of the liquid, which transforms it into vapor. And that’s what you inhale.

Other vaping devices work basically the same way. None of them use burning to emit smoke, but rather liquid to produce vapor. There are also some dry herb vaping devices available, such as a Wulf vape, that allow the user to add cannabis to the liquid.

Most vaping devices run on batteries. Some are rechargeable, while others are not even replaceable. The type of battery a vaping device runs on usually depends on how expensive the model is. Cheaper units might have irreplaceable batteries, making them useless once the batteries die. And more expensive devices often have rechargeable or replaceable batteries.

Vaping devices for beginners

There are so many vaping devices on the market today, that the type you choose is mostly up to personal preference. For example, if you’re interested in vapes as a means to quit smoking, you might like the look and feel of a traditional e-cigarette. This way, you still feel like you’re smoking, but you’re cutting down on the amount of nicotine you use. You might also want to choose a regulated device that controls the output of the vapor.

For people with a little more experience, we recommend mid-power devices that run at 80 watts or less. These give you a little more flavor and a higher vapor output than the beginning devices. However, they are still regulated so that you can still make sure you’re not using too much nicotine if your liquid contains that.

More advanced vapors can likely regulate their own output without much help from regulators. They have a feel for the amount of vapor they want, along with how much nicotine they’re getting if they happen to be using products that contain it. High-powered vaping devices can be designed with things like rebuildable tanks and customized atomizers. They can also be more customizable in their appearance. These might include hybrid devices or mechanical mods that can be designed exactly how you like it.

Benefits of vaping

While vaping has gotten some negative press, one conclusion seems to be quite clear: the benefits far outweigh the undetermined risks. For one thing, vaping liquid contains far fewer chemicals than the harmful ones found in cigarettes. And when used to cut down on nicotine, this chemical can be regulated to break your cigarette smoking habits.

Another benefit is the complete elimination of second hand smoke, which is responsible for more than 40,000 deaths per year. This statistic alone has made a lot of parents reconsider their conventional cigarettes and replace them with vaping devices.
